Mining operations are set to begin at the Kuluncak iron ore mine in Eastern Turkey under a newly signed agreement between TurkPower ($TRKP) subsidiary Maksor and Austrian beneficiation plant manufacturer The Standard GmbH. (Beneficiation is the process whereby the mineral is separated from waste in extracted iron ore.)

The first beneficiation plant will be a mobile one that should be up and running next month; the next one (that will allow for higher capacity) could be online as soon as this coming April. Standard's processes could increase the iron ore grade by up to 7%.
