VELA closes 3.5GHz 4G-LTE Networks in Croatia/Montenegro With 6 Million Potential 4G Subs

Velatel Global Communications, Inc. (VELA) and their strategic/financial partner ZTE Corporation (ZTE) have closed their two 4G-LTE wireless broadband network acquisitions in Croatia and Montenegro. VelaTel is on track with its projected timeline to begin deployment of both networks during Q2 2012.

These two deals make VELA once again the low-cost 4G LTE carrier in a region with over 6 million potential subscribers—that IS the VELA business model. Source

As per their business model, they will deploy 50-100 ZTE 4G  base stations capable of adding over 100,000 plus subscribers in the initial 4G data network…and then sell up to a 24% equity interest to a 4G wireless network investor to fund the rest of deployment and network expansion.

With ZTE’s announcement of their 4G TD-LTE base station equipment, we expect the first round of deployment to be dual-mode (WiMax and 4G-LTE) and second round 100% TD-LTE. Source

NBT is in process of updating our valuations for the various VELA operating companies. Revenues from these existing networks fully consolidate to the VELA income statement.
