Quick Survey: Do you think Greece will stop using the Euro?

Dear friend of NBT,

Summer is almost offcially here...the US Open kicks off today and the European solvency...not liquidity...crisis moves ever slowly to the inevitable divorce of the North from the South.

Yet the Innovation Economy moves ahead because innovators are too busy and driven to notice.

I spend a lot of time with members of what I have come to call The Innovation Economy...and with three start ups of my own I include myself in this group.

Of the many lessons I've learned from this brash group one stands supreme: when you are bringing something new to the world there is NO time to worry about macro economics.

This lesson is true for us emerging growth investors: we are investing in secular growth not cyclical growth.

Truly innovative consumer products...think Apple...grow at orders of magnitude faster rates than non-innovators. Innovators grow by either creating new categories of desirable products (think iPad) or STEAL share from incumbents (think iPhone and Blacberry).

Yet emerging growth stocks WILL get hit harder in a recession led bear market.

Your strategy?

BUILD your portfolio of TRUE bona fide emerging growth innovators in HARD times....and sell em in good times when the animal spirits prevail.

True innovators build a LOT of market share and value DURING recessions...look at the price of Apple shares in 2009 and today and that's all you need to know.
